LLEN Services

Disengaged Learners Program

We develop and deliver a range of initiatives and programs aimed at supporting vulnerable young people to reach their potential by: increasing retention in education, enhancing education achievement, guided career pathways and support for successful transitions no matter what the destination. The City LLEN collaborates and brokers partnerships with schools and a range of organisations to identify meaningful local solutions and build community capacity to enrich the outcomes for young people, focusing on those most at risk, including refugees and migrant youth, homeless and at risk of homelessness, students experiencing multiple barriers to participation, youth justice clients and other issues preventing them from reaching their potential.

Phone Call Practice for School Students and Young People

Many employers tell us that young people often lack the confidence to speak on the telephone, this is an important skill to have to secure work and maintain a job.  The City LLEN offers free practice to young people who can call us on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons to practice having a chat, we will guide the conversation so you get used to talking to a stranger.  We encourage you to use our script guide in our flyer to support conversations around finding part time work or careers generally.  Please phone 0435 421 376 and for more information download the forprintingphone-call-practice-for-students-cityllenflyer

On Track Connect

This program provides referral support and advice to early school leavers and Year 12 students early in the year after they complete their education if they are not participating in further education or employment.  Access to this service is arranged when students complete their enrolment paperwork at their school prior to leaving school.

Careers Advice/School Support

We can provide students and parents with advice and information on how to navigate the education system.

Our work varies depending on the needs and issues impacting the young people coming into the city of Melbourne and attending our schools.  Read about our work in our Annual Reports under the Resources and Publications section here.
